After schooling at a Technical High school, Tim joined the Army, gaining technical and mechanical knowledge and experience in Pneumatics, Hydraulics and Mechanics.

He then joined Renown Fresh Meat, where he learned and mastered his trade as a Fitter & Turner.

After approximately 12 years with Renown, Tim was offered the opportunity to join the Crown National family, where stayed until 2001.

With the knowledge and experience gained through the years, Tim branched out on his own, opening his own business.

With the birth and opening of Butchermac, Tim serviced and assisted a network of customers, until mid-2012…






With a diploma in Mechanical engineering obtained from the University of the Free State, Johan joined Crown National Bloemfontein, where he stayed from 1997 to 2000, when he transferred to Crown National Johannesburg in 2001.

During his time at Crown National Johan was afforded the opportunities to train abroad.

With full training at Risco, Italy (2001) on Vacuum Fillers and at Inotec, Germany (2006) on Emulsifiers & Sausage cutters.

In 2008 Johan launched Choice Technical, where he too, serviced and assisted a network of customers, until mid-2012…






In mid-2012, Tim and Johan joined forces and opened the doors of Butcher’s 911. Between them, sharing a combined experience of approximately 55 years in the Meat/ Food Industry. Tim and Johan service and assist an entire network of customers, incl the Shoprite Checkers Meat Division and Crown National, which are but a few to mention.

With an array of suppliers, sourcing and supplying of parts, spares and electrics are within arm’s reach. We have also embarked on the adventure of manufacturing our own spare parts, where needed or if unavailable from our suppliers.

With workshop based technicians, as well as field technicians, coming together and forming a combined work experience of approximately 40 years between them, Butcher’s 911 specialises in the repair and maintenance of butchery equipment. Our focus is also on machinery used in abattoirs, large meat processing factories and other food industries. The business prides itself on the fastest turnaround time possible, and 100% customer satisfaction.
